How is Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Diagnosed?
How does a doctor diagnose a mild traumatic brain injury? Well, it starts with taking a detailed history. The doctor will want to get all the details of the accident; the force of the accident, the position of the person's head, and how their head moved in the accident. The next step the doctor will take is conduct a neurological examination. The doctor will test for balance, coordination, hearing, memory, reflexes, and vision. If the doctor has concerns, a CT scan will be taken to determine whether something is wrong on the inside of the brain. Often the person will be kept overnight at the hospital for observation, so that medical staff can see how his/her condition progresses.
