The x-rays of my neck and back don’t show anything major. Does that mean I just have a whiplash injury?
Here’s the thing, if you’ve injured your neck and/or back in a car accident your doctor is probably relying on x-rays to rule out a serious neck or back injury. But you should understand that x-rays don’t always tell the whole story. If you have severe neck or back pain which persists for a few months you should talk to your family doctor about getting a CT scan or MRI. The CT scan and MRI are more sensitive types of radiological investigations which may show an injury to your neck or back which didn’t turn up on your x-ray.
