Vancouver Car Accident Victim - Accident Victim Mentality
The first thing I say to anyone who calls me after a car accident is , "... if you want to get fairly compensated by ICBC, you're going to have to take responsibility for how you THINK about your ICBC injury claim."
What do I mean by that ?
Well, the ACCIDENT VICTIM MENTALITY is one that I think is really unhelpful if you want a fair shake for your injuries.
And I'll tell you why.
When you start to think like an accident victim, you start to behave like an accident victim and it all goes downhill from there.
You see,in my experience the type of person who makes out the best is the type of person who say, " OK. I didn't create this situation. I didn't cause this accident. But I have to accept responsibility for the outcome. I need to make sure that I do what it takes to get fairly compensated and that my family gets properly taken care of."
The way they, " do what it takes.." is by making sure that they see their doctor on a regular basis and do whatever the doctors says. Like seeing their physiotherapist or massage therapist. Like taking the medication the doctor has prescribed. And by going to see the specialist their doctor has referred them to.
And when the doctor says, "try and go back to work.." They try and go back to work.
So, in other words, this type of person takes a proactive approach to their ICBC injury claim.
But, if you think live an accident victim, you're moving in the opposite direction. You're reactive and you're not driving the agenda.
Here's the thing. If you really want to get fairly compensated for your ICBC injury claim, it starts with how you think about your situation ( i.e. your mindset).
