ICBC statistics show 15 pedestrians killed, hundreds injured in accidents in lots across the province over the past five years.
A toddler was killed and his mother injured when the two were run over in a Pitt Meadows parking lot.
The accident comes as a tragic reminder to pedestrians of the heightened danger of walking in busy parking areas where cars and people are rushing to get places, said Jeffrey Witten, a personal injury lawyer at Vancouver law firm McComb Witten.
