ICBC Over & Under Billing Saga Continues

ICBC is once again in the headlines today as a result of its $110million bungle.

It was revealed over the weekend that ICBC had overcharged some customers to the tune of $31million and undercharged others by more than $71million.

Any way you slice it that’s an expensive mistake.

One that the rest of the insurance industry is scratching their heads over.

But, according to the latest details, the problem could be even worse than it first appeared.

ICBC has admitted to over and undercharging customers for the past six years.

Why six years? Because that’s as far back as their records go.

That means there’s no way of knowing how long ICBC has been they’ve been over billing some and under billing others.

It could be decades for all we know.

To add insult to injury, it appears that this issue may have never seen the light of day if  it were not for “The Province’s” investigation.

Because it took an anonymous whistle blower’s e-mail to out this whole debacle.

Would ICBC have come with the information if  reporters didn’t start asking questions?

If ICBC can make such basic errors, what else are they getting wrong?

And what else is going on over  at ICBC that the public doesn’t know about?

It’s an issue of trust.

To put it bluntly, the public’s faith in ICBC has been shaken.

Is it time for a full scale public inquiry into ICBC’s operations?
