Now, the first thing you need to understand about the valuation or worth of your case, is that you can't think of an ICBC injury case as being worth a specific amount.

You have to think of your claim as having a value which falls within a given range ( say from one to five).

Alright, when I valute or when I try to give one of my clients guidence regarding what their case is worth, I look at five specific factors.

Firstly, I look at the type of injury that they've suffered. Is it a whiplash? Have they broken an arm or a leg? Or have they suffered a spinal injury or brain injury ?  As is apparent, these are very different types of injures. And the type of injury directly impacts the worth of your ICBC injury claim.

The second thing I look at is the duration of the injury. In other words, how long have the symptoms gone on for ?  One week ? One month ? One year ? Or are the symptoms going to be permanent ? The duration of your symptoms directly affects the value of your ICBC injury claim.

The third factor that I look at is what's often referred to as lifestyle or the impact the injuries have on a person.

Now, when I refer to lifestyle, I'm talking about your ability to work, your ability to do things around the house ( cooking, cleaning, taking out the garbage, doing the laundry etc.), your ability to enjoy the hobbies and sports that you were involved in prior to your accident, and the impact your injuries may have had on your relationships with family and friends.

Everything that I've mentioned above rolls into what I refer to as lifestyle or your ability to enjoy your life.

The fourth factor that I look at is income i.e your loss of wages. That refers to both the money that you've lose as a result of being unable to work in the past and the  money that you're going to lose as a result of being unable to work, even to some degree, in the future.

The final factor that I look at when I'm attempting to give a client guidance regarding the value of their case are the medical expenses that they've suffered. And when I'm referencing medical expenses, I'm talking about the cost of medication, the cost of therapy ( i.e. physiotherapy, massage etc.), the cost of home assistance/yard work etc.
