Longboarding is becoming a very popular sport in Vancouver.

Every day more and more longboarders take to our streets.

And as a result more and more longboarders are getting hit by cars.

So what happens if you get hit and hurt while riding a longboard?

Can you make an ICBC injury claim?

In short, YES.

But this type of claim isn't without controversy.

Longboarders are like motorcyclists.

There's a stigma about the whole "longboarding thing" that you're going to need to tackle.

You see, the media has painted a picture of longboarders as "renegades", "rule breakers", " troublemakers".

I think you know what I mean.

And as a result there's a bias against longboarders. That bias can lead to the conclusion that a longboarder MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG!

Otherwise, why would they have been hit by a car??

That's the starting point for any longboarder who gets hit by a car and is making an ICBC injury claim.

As a result, a longboarder who's advancing an ICBC injury claim needs to make sure that they handle the issue of responsiblilty for their accident carefully... right out of the gate.
