You place your most precious treasure in it.

And yet what do know about it?

What am I talking about?

The car seat your child sits in when he/she rides in your vehicle.

Don't you think it would be worth you time to learn a little bit about child car seats?

For starters, all car seats sold in Canada have an expiry date on them.

Here's a few reasons:

> Frequent use and exposure to sunlight can damage and weaken the plastic a car seat is made of.

> Food, cleaners and other substances that get spilled on a car seat can negatively impact its performance.

> Regulations and safety standards often change over time. So what was once "up to date technology" may no longer offer the best form of protection.

And that's just a taste of what you need to know when it comes to being up to speed on car seat safety.
