Can't sleep following your car accident?
Finding it hard to concentrate and focus on your day to day responsibilities during the day as a result?
According to a recent study conducted by neuroscientists Maiken Nedergard and Lulu Xie, at the University of Rochester Medical Center, the brain uses a fluid running through microscopic channels to carry out "its trash".
" Sleep drives a garbage truck throught the brain, literally moving bits of physical waste material and allowing a cleaner brain to think better the next day. And the garbage truck won't operate when you're awake." - article by Tom Spears in Oct 18/13, Vancouver Sun
But the kicker is this removal of waste/toxins from the brain only occurs when you're asleep.
Negergard and Xie's study the brain's waste removal mechanism operates like "plumbing" which tends to "backup" when you don't get sufficient sleep.
So, getting a handle on the sleep problems you've been having since your car accident is clearly quite important.
If you're having problems sleeping since your car accident, see your doctor and discuss what can be done to "treat" this problem.
I've handled ICBC injury claims for many individuals who've suffered with sleep problems following their car accident.
