Etienne is a passionate lawyer that is committed to getting the best possible outcomes for his clients. Since being called to the bar in 2010, Etienne has been successful in numerous trials in the Supreme Court in British Columbia, as well as mediations, and he proves every day that he is not afraid to go the distance to fight for his clients.
Starting his career defending catastrophic personal injury claims, Etienne quickly found that his true passion laid in fighting for the people who have been harmed, and not insurance companies. Etienne now only represents people who have been harmed by others. He has experience with a wide range of injuries including traumatic brain injury, quadriplegia, paraplegia, loss of limbs, orthopedic injuries, complex chronic pain, psychiatric injuries and other trauma induced injuries, relating primarily to motor vehicle collisions.
Etienne completed his law degree from the University of New Brunswick after completing his Master’s in Applied Health Services Research in the Faculty of Medicine. Etienne is now able to combine his passions for the well-being and fair treatment of his clients with his understanding of the medical field. This makes Etienne a great resource for his clients and he takes great pride in guiding them through the process.
Etienne was a professional basketball player who has transferred his work ethic, competitiveness and drive on the court into his work and his involvement with the community. He advanced from being Chair of the New Lawyers Committee of the Trial Lawyers Association of BC (“TLABC”) to being elected as a member of the Executive of the entire TLABC, consisting of over 1400 members, keeping him involved and at the leading edge of advancements in his field. Within his community Etienne promotes sport and healthy life choices as a former Director with the Hooplaw Society and is currently the acting Vice President of Night Hoops which is a charity that provides access to basketball and life learning sessions for underprivileged and at risk youth.
Born in Vancouver, Etienne has always had an appetite for travel and enjoys immersing himself in new cultures. As a bilingual Canadian who has lived in 7 countries and travelled to over 30, Etienne has a true appreciation for Vancouver’s diversity. As such, these experiences assist Etienne to understand the unique cultural and linguistic needs of his clients and to provide the support they need to feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.
